Software status legend:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Production (RTW) | Ready to be used commercially (ready to wear). |
| Update | An update to a production release, still RTW. |
| Release Candidate (RC) | Could become a production release if proven solid. |
| Preview | Preview of the next release, not quite ready for production use. |
Firmware
The Firmware is the TinyCLR OS that lives on your hardware. The firmware version loaded on the hardware must match the version number of the extension and the libraries.

Visual Studio Project System
The extension is what gets loaded on Visual Studio to allow it to communicate with a TinyCLR OS device. It also includes project templates.

Libraries
Libraries provide prebuilt software routines for performing many common tasks. It is preferred to access these libraries through NuGet.org by using Visual Studio's default package source.
note
Make sure to check the Include prerelease box in Visual Studio's NuGet package manager if you're not using the production release.
The libraries are provided here in case you're having trouble with the online source or need an older library that's not hosted on NuGet.
