ST-Ericsson, which currently manufactures the previous Philips/NXP chips, sent an EOL notification 01/21/2010 "PTN STE-ETC/10/5310" for ISP1160BD/01.
Suggested replacement type is ISP1161A1BD. This information can not yet be found from the site www.stericsson.com.

That device has an additional USB device feature.

Now I'm asking if you have experiences on direct replacement?
Does it need any migration?

We do not information about EOL and once we do and there is a replacement then we will be testing the replacement host or offering a replacement to USBwiz.
We will probably not migrate USBwiz to new chips and instead offer a replacement chip with built in host... nothing in near future though.

Please take a look of this:

They inform that the replacement type should be pin and functional compatible.
The doubt is, if this is really compatible with the USBwiz controller?
Because of additional USB device feature.

I think you should test that ASAP and give the new recommendation on using ISP1161A1BD instead.

Then it should work with USBwiz but from my personal experience this is never the case. There is always something that need to be tweaked.

Since Digikey (and others) still have thousands in stock then we are okay for now!

There are thousands of USBwiz chips out there so we will look into this and provide customers with details on how to upgrade in near future
