When you receive your new hardware, you may need to update the included firmware. Please make sure to:
1) Download the latest SDK online.
2) Follow the user manual to update your firmware to the one included in the SDK.
3) If you are using GHI features, use the library included with the SDK.
Otherwise you might problems like:
- Visual Studio fails on deploying the application.
- Application does not start and says waiting for debug commands.
Unfortunately, visual studio does not tell you what the problem is but you can see it using MFDeploy. Debugging messages are sent to PC and you can see the reason why the application did not start.
MFDeploy is included with NETMF SDK.
Start MFDeploy. Under "Device" select the debugging interface (USB by default). You will see your device displayed (Embedded Master, USBizi...etc).
Click Target->Connect. (Note: if you connect, you cannot deploy using Visual studio anymore. Make sure to disconnect before using VS again)
Reboot your device and hit Ping.
You will see debugging messages like loading assemblies info.
When you ping you will receive "TinyCLR" message which means NETMF is responding.
If your firmware version is outdated and using a newer GHI library version, you will see debug message saying library checksum is invalid.
