We are writing files into SD card.
After about 700 files, on opening new file, it gives error code 45.

In manual, it is written that "FAT16 root folder can contain upto 512 entries (FAT16 limitation)".
what does it mean?

does it mean that after 512 files in same folder, files can't be created?

Yes correct. If you format the driver FAT32 then you will have no problem. Or, you can create a folder and put all your files in it. The limitation is only in the root folder.

Note that placing hundreds of files in one place is a bad idea. It is better to create folders to split the files

You can refer to FAT specification. For the number of files, there is a limitation in FAT16 that root directory is limited. FAT32 unlimited. If you have a specific question, let us know.

As per FAT16 specification: in root directory, it can have no. of entries 2 bytes (65535).
But as per usbwiz manual, it is upto 512 only.

Is it any limitation for making files in a sub-folder (which is in root directory)? How many file can we make in that folder?

There is no limit on subfolders.
Or use FAT32.

The file system on our devices has same limitation as any FAT system.

Look here and you will see how it is 512 files
